Plus the next gen graphic cards are close. So I don't know if I should just wait. If they would come out I can still buy the 970, but probably cheaper...
Hey guys, it's really time to buy a new laptop/computer
Currently I have an desktop without an GPU and a old gaming laptop.
I just need to be able to run VR games.
And there are laptops with full desktop specs so hear me out:
I can buy a:
- GTX 970 with my current i5 4670k PC.
- I can for that buy a cheaper laptop later on, around $900
Pros: Cheap AF
Cons: chitty laptop. Will travel more in the future so I need a future proof-laptop.
Will need to upgrade the motherboard and CPU soon too if I buy a top-end graphic card.
Total cost: $1250 Costs ~$1750 for top-end graphic card.
OR
- AMD Radeon 390 or Nvidia GTX 970 external GPU with a Razor Blade + Razor Core
Pros: Can use the external GPU with AMD XConnect AND my current desktop.
Cons: less portability for gaming. Overpriced razor with less powerful CPU.
Could only use a Razer laptop, but I don't know if I could use the Razor Core with other laptops in the future
Total cost: ~$1750, will cost more with desktop i7 laptop
OR
GTX 980 & i7 6700k desktop processor in laptop
Pros: Ultimate gaming portability with performance
Cons: Ultimate price, can't upgrade
Total cost: ~$2900
Portability and performance are the most important, price not really if it's the best investment.
What would be the best?
Plus the next gen graphic cards are close. So I don't know if I should just wait. If they would come out I can still buy the 970, but probably cheaper...
damn just go all out and buy the expensive one
