The first month of their release of Pokemon Go Niantic made around $200 Million USD. At this point, I don't think they care if they lose players or people refraining themselves from going out in the winter to play.
After the recent update, Pokemon won't spawn if you are going faster than 30 mph.
What is your take on this update?
Personally I don't like the idea because I usually play when I am on the public transit, or on a vehicle.
People around the world have different experiences with the game and in some places, winter is coming.
I don't think people would be willing to walk out in the cold to catch Pokemon unless they are extremely die hard fans.
Oh yeah and if you were wondering how much km that is:
30 mph = 48.28032 km/h
Basically they are trying to eliminate people playing as a passenger on a car, bus, etc.
You either got to walk, ride a bicycle, etc (must be under 30mph).

Valid point. They're too stubborn to understand what the players want.
I think the game has already died and i think thats for safety precautions lol
Its pretty annoying. I use to check when on the way to work in traffic. It seems like even when going slow after going fast it takes a while to show again. I honesty dont know why I still play....
Turns out you can't get items from pokestops now if you go over 30mph.
R.I.P Pokemon Go.
