[GUIDE] Super Easy Account Rank-up/Restore/Upgrade

STATUS: WORKING AS OF 2/18/2010

NOTICE: This method does not involve any external programs, tsearch patching or registry editing. Your CD key is 100% safe and PB is not an issue whatsoever. It is the safest way that I know of to do this. You have to follow the instructions exactly as posted. If you try to do this after installing the 1.4 patch it will not work. Do it exactly as described below and it will work.

I've tested a way to restore your mpdata file on a new account/key code which should be Punkbuster proof and is quite easy. To do this you will need the mpdata file from the original (presumably GUID banned) account and the key code that goes with it. This can also be used as an easy rank-up method as well, but you will need an mpdata file and the associated key code. Google is your friend if you don't already have one!

INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Backup your old mpdata file located in the "Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare\players\profiles\<profile name>" subfolder.

2. Uninstall the game using Control Panel/Uninstall Software.

3. Reboot.

4. Install the game normally from the original DVD. When it asks for the key-code, be sure to type in the key-code that goes with the rank 55 mpdata file you want to use (the banned key code), not the new account key code.

5. DO NOT INSTALL THE 1.4 PATCH YET!!!

6. Load the game and create a user profile, then check the rank screen, it should say rank 1.

7. Exit the game.

8. Copy the rank-55 mpdata file into the "Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare\players\profiles\<profile name>" subfolder.

9. Load the game and check the rank screen again. It should say rank-55 now.

10. Log on to a *NON-PB* server and get a few kills. 2-3 is enough.

11. Exit the game.

12. Now load the game again, and in the multiplayer options change the key code to the new account key code.

13. Log on to a *NON-PB* server and get 2-3 kills.

14. Exit the game.

15. Final step: Install the 1.4 patch.

That's it - you should have a new account with rank 55 and no PB ban issues or registry editing/tsearch patching at all.
