I received the exact same email form you and then 4 days later an email from FitBit requesting that I need to call customer service. I was forwarded to a supervisor who requested that the "defective" device be sent back and they sent me shipping labels. I've used the same method 3 times without fail, but when I received this I spoke with another FitBit se'r and they too have been receiving send back the old device no matter how defective it is. Hopefully your good to go, but just be prepared.
