Sound cards, not really. The onboard sound from the motherboards these days is more than enough unless you're an audiophile, which if you were then you've have your own external sound card/dac & whatever else.

Wireless adapter, depends. If you have no way to plug an ethernet cable into your motherboard and it doesn't support wireless, then you should buy a wireless card. My old motherboard doesn't have a wireless adapter so i had to add one in for my brother when I gave him my old system, I use ethernet so it's all good for me, though my current motherboard also doesn't have a wireless adapter built in.

For the price, if you have money to waste then sure, go ahead and spend the extra money. If you're trying to spend as little as possible, then don't bother unless you can't get ethernet to the pc or the motherboard doesn't have wireless capabilities.

True most of the Motherboard nowadays have onboard sounds. Additional sound cards on motherboard that already have onboard sound is not necessary you'll just waste your money. Like harry said it really depends actually I have bought some wireless adapters for my workstation due to cable management problems I spent my money to wireless adapters I must say its worth it but it really depends on your situation

If you want better sound just buy an external mixer board with a built in sound card.

The Lexicon Alpha is an amazing choice for only $50, and gives ridiculously better power and clarity to headphones than onboard sound. It also has input for XLR cables for a quality microphone, 1/4" Instrument Cable inputs, headphone output jacks, and adjustment knobs for all inputs to mix them separately. For example you can plug in a guitar to the instrument input, put the Monitor mix halfway, and you can have PC audio at 50% and guitar at 50% at the same time. Also like 6 different line in and out slots. Just plug it in with USB and make it your primary sound device.
