SOLUTION = Shut off your Anti-Virus...

I have McAfee, and i had the EXACT same problem... All i did was shut it down for update, then start it back up... EASY

im thinking this is a dns error, never had this happen to me. try checking firewalls.It is possible for DNS servers to be quite slow to reply to lookup requests. Resulting in a time out. If your operating system abandons the lookup, but the DNS server eventually replies after all, the reply packet can be logged as an unexpected probe by some personal firewall programs. If you discover your firewall is logging apparent probes from addresses which turn out to be DNS servers, do not be alarmed. You can probably configure your firewall not to log such late replies, for instance by configuring the DNS servers as trusted hosts.

i download crossfire again and install in a new file = doesnt work
i reinstall with the old one = doesnt work
i havent got a hack

try start cf patcher!(crogram files/z8.crossfirs/ cf patcher

simply download CF with torrent ... it`s the latest version ... or go on Z8games forum and question there ... I don`t know what to do more ...
