There are billions of stars in the galaxy that are similar to the Sun,[3][4] many of which are billions of years older than Earth.[5][6]
With high probability, some of these stars will have Earth-like planets,[7][8] and if the Earth is typical, some might develop intelligent life.
Some of these civilizations might develop interstellar travel, a step the Earth is investigating now.
Even at the slow pace of currently envisioned interstellar travel, the Milky Way galaxy could be completely traversed in a few million years.[9]

Well what I think is, that either they have visited earth or at the very least know about earth and it's species but choose not to interact because well.... a species that can space travel and shit has no reason to visit earth unless they wish to populate it and in that scenario if they are anything like humans then we would be wiped out instead of them trying to interact with us. So where are they? They are in space somewhere but we won't talk to them because we are basically cave like people to them. How likely this is is still up for grabs.
