No matter how good your antivirus is, If the user is an idiot who keeps downloading random shit from untrustworthy sources and running them, Nothing will help.

Or, Install Linux and forget all about viruses (also your ez usage to windows.)
yeah i guess that makes sense, if i run a virus nothing could really stop it lol except common sense

As I said, If you are downloading from trustworthy sources only, Windows defender is more than enough to stop anything else or any dangerous process.

i.e, If I only play games purchased from steam, I have nothing to be worried about while playing them, I won't need to worry while downloading them.

Windows Defender should be good enough but I have Malwarebytes just to do a weekly scan just in case

I used Nod32 for the longest time and it was great -- not sure about now. I see a lot of terrible answers here though -- a lot of these AVs are just bloatware.

Malwarebytes and proper computer/download hygiene has worked the best for me.

Windows Defender + uBlock Origin is a really solid defense.
If you still don't feel secure, you could also add Malwarebytes. It's still free, unless you want the pro version.

Bitdefender. Dosen't seem to be too heavy on my computer and cannot bring myself to rely only on Windows Defender even though it's supposed to be enough

I think avast Primier is the best and according to me there is also a free trail version that you can use.
