There are plenty of components and enhancements available here as well as on the net, You should really take advantage of them and work on GUI, Sometimes it doesn't matter, but it is good to get into the habit of creating a User Friendly, Clean , Sleek application (functionality always trumps GUI, some companies sacrifice functionality for GUI, I am not saying do that, You should increase capabilities of your application by enhancing GUI, same way Office 2010 does, by cleaning up the GUI, they actual made it more functional, and that is where you want to take your applications to) other then that, looks good, I suspect tutorial considering the "rapid advancements" but still good.
