This isn't 3D. This is just pentooling with textures.

Step 1. Make desired text.
Step 2. Use transformation tools to get desired perspective.
Step 3. Use pentool to draw out 3D effect.
Step 4. Add textures.

Yeah, this is a pretty cheapily executed technique they could've added more of a feel of depth but. meh

then do the "3d" extension with the pentool, with shading and stuff

Can do it easy in illustrator, but yeah any version of CS would provide those results.

naw, the artist most likely used vanishing points to create that. Available in most CS3 + series

It'd look more professional if they used it. But I know they didn't because they have so many flaws.
