This. Make a "deep scan" with a good AV (download the legit trail from Kaspersky & get he home edition of AVG / MS Security Essentials Beta). I would also run a few scans with Spybot S&D. If you really want to be on the safe side resintall if possible.

Not necessarily, I've had some serious virus problems and I managed to save the OS (it might have lost some weight, but the main stuff was still working ).

Yeah, I was denied access to my Task Manager and CMD, but I manage to Remove the Virus and Restore Access without Losing Anything! Except the Virus /
