Info/My Opinion
The graphics, sounds, and NPCs are all familiar, as they come straight out of the PC version. The gameplay follows the same tradition as the original - there are tons of quests to do, you must level up to get stronger, wear certain items/weapons and to be able to advance farther. There are even weapon scrolls and the mini games are fun to do when you need to take your mind off level grinding. There are differences though.. for example, job advancements are at level 10, 30, and 60, and when you level up you only gain 1 SP and AP (AP points are automatically assigned, you are unable to change this).
Here are some of my suggestions and complaints:
1. You should be able to name your own character and choose it's gender.
2. There is not much in terms of customization.
3. The D-pad works okay but a joystick in my opinion would make it a lot easier to jump on ropes and ladders. I would also like to see the jump down feature added.
4. It lacks the multi-tasking feature, please consider adding this.
5. It lacks auto-save. Many times I've almost forgot to save my game before quitting and because of this if you receive a phone call in the middle of playing say bye to all your hours of playing.
6. The potions are too close to the attack and jump keys. It's really easy to drink unnecessary amounts of potions while trying to attack or jump.
7. You don't gain HP/MP while standing and mosters seem to take away a lot more HP than they should.
8. The game does sometimes glitch and you are unable to fix it.
I still really enjoy the game though. It's nice to play alone sometimes and although it's the same in many ways as the PC version it's also still new in others. It's a good little game to play when there's a patch or server maintenance too. The simple controls and hours of gameplay are enough to bring in experienced players and new ones alike, especially those who enjoy side scrolling games.
