Yea, I remember those days, though I wasn't really active at all then. I miss the old modding section, where there were real quality mods, and people actually thanked modders.

I miss the old days too... You know, before when the mod you just spent all day on would get lots of thanks, stars, and rep and would stay on the front page for a few days? Now, you can spend a year on a mod and it takes 1-2 hours to be on page 2, with maybe 20 downloads and 3 thanks if your lucky... and the 3 thanks are from old members. Then they made the elite section, sounded promising, then they fucked that over too. I say we need to get rid of the elite section, and make a section only for members in FSP, EFSP, PR, UFB, etc (The known groups)... where we would be free to release what we want, and EVERYONE should be able to download, only if the thanks button is hit though... but ONLY the members of said teams can post. Probably isn't possible, and if it was it would be too much work for Dave. Kid's already fighting off DDoS'ers left and right >_<

This is why there needs to be a subsection for only the advanced modders to release, but everyone has access to download and post there, they just cant create a thread unless given special permission. OR make a section for newcomers to post their mods in where they won't be critiqued so hard, and will recieve more help rather than flood the good mods to the depths of MPGH's mod section.
