What is your computer made of? A steaming pile of rock? LOL. I made my SNES boot linux > XP and then start minecraft, and I can get 45 FPS...

are you giving your friend you external ip? thats the only way they can connect, unless u are using hamachi, youd give them the hamachi ip.
also, in ur server config did u set the ip to you ipv4 address?
Howto get ipv3 addres. start>run>cmd in cmd, type in ipconnfig then youd find ipv4 address. also, usualy you have to be wired connection, if you are wireless, you shouldnt be able to host.
