Hello new gfxer, let me inform you that "pleasing to the eye" is actually considered a bad thing in the current gfx section. Sounds counterintuitive, but art works in mysterious ways. Modern art is in right now, and if you like actual art, then you'll have to wait until the next gfx team.

When did "pleasing to the eye" get retarded? It's only stupid when you can't back it up. Like,
"That's pleasing to the eye."
Compared to:
"That's pleasing to the eye because of how the colors mesh together and how the C4D's compliment the render while the background keeps it grungy enough to be a dark themed piece."

Sorry, but I'm a bit pissed at the state of this section after my one-year hiatus. I come back, and BAM badly-placed c4ds and text, ugly backgrounds, and gay rainbow sparklies are just fabulous!

Sorry, but I'm a bit pissed considering you were on a one-year hiatus. You believe that everything's going to stay the same as how you left it? Check all the olden arts, like Picasso, Van Gogh, Di Vinci. Are they crappy because it's outdated? Things evolve into newer types of art. Get with the program or get the hell out. If you think your way is better, then make your own art. We're glad to take it without your ******ry.

Got one problem with that: beginner. Arrogant, don't know my place, yeah. I enjoy letting my opinion be known, the stronger the better. And modern art is pretty much my biggest pet peeve, so I look forward to some confrontations.

There's a difference between wanting your opinion heard, and being rude. If you hate modern art, then go back to the cave you live in. Don't follow the trend, get small pox and die from it because anything modern (like medicine) is retarded.

The depth in the piece got me a long with the vibrant colors

Ethereal: 9.
Putting aside my dislike for sparklies and rainbow colors, it flows the best and is the best thought-out and put together. I also like the effect on the hand reaching for the L, like a spot of realism in a fantasy. The depth though, feels off to me due to mixed signals from the background and the c4d's, along with the blending on her elbow.
The thing in the bottom left corner does give an interesting effect though, like the girl-thing and the debris in the top right had been shot out of a cannon.

I like U-C's because of the bold colors and warping effects, but it doesn't come together in the end, having no coherent focus.
Acinonyx's and Kero's are just c4d's on a bg with an equation and render, nothing more. Not particularly interesting or artistic.
Mine's just a couple effects and text on a black bg, so not even as interesting as the 2 above.

And Matt - it ain't over I have too big an ego.
