    Capitalism.

Capitalism the best economic system ever invented? I think so. Capitalism has low government involvement and equal opportunity for all. It made a small agricultural nation into an industrial powerhouse and that nation prospered.

Like all political and ideological systems it ostensibly sounds good on paper, in practice it's more complicated. However don't conflate capitalism with democracy.

    Well, what's the choice here?
The way I see it it's a circle, with a spectrum from pure laissez-faire capitalism to pure command socialism, and back to communism, which is the ultimate laissez- faire capitalism. (Rich and powerful are given free reign to do literally anything, including enslaving and killing workers for financial gain)

But as Empire said government bounders. Much like Teddy did with trust busting.

Yeah, but what I'm trying to say is that it's extremely complicated. There isn't a perfect balance, so it's always a see-saw from control to free reign.

Oh well yes of course it's more complicated in action then on paper (what isn't?), but it is by far the least fucked up economic system made to date.

@TS Agreed, also Cock has a point as well, I understand what he means when he imagines it as a 'circle.'

Now if only Obama would read this thread and maybe use it.
