    fuck this hdd

Does anyone know of a program that can quite forcibly destroy everything on a HDD, including partitions? I have had a bricked drive here that refuses to let me do anything with it. Ive ran it through Seatools both windows and DOS versions (its a barracuda drive) and it cant even do any tests at all on it. The drive shows up as a 0mb drive despite being a 500Gb drive that lasted less than 5 months. Its still under warranty, but I would much rather just format it and reinstall 7 on it than wait around for them to send me a new one.

The drive does spin up, no clicking or anything, it just doesnt work. It even appears to be affecting this drive, because now that I have it plugged in again my computer is freezing a little bit every now and then. I tried a Flash drive version of DBAN already, but it didnt work, but I never tried just burning it to a CD and using that.

So is there any program out there that I can use to brute force everything off this drive? I dont care about whats o it, I just want it to be usable again.

    did you try the following?

~a partitioning program that can format it?
~ normal my computer > format?

    or

~ Open Computer Management by clicking the Start button ,
    clicking Control Panel,
    clicking System and Maintenance,
    clicking Administrative Tools,
    and then double-clicking Computer Management.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

In the Navigation pane, under Storage, click Disk Management, Right-click the volume that you want to format, and then click Format. To format the volume with the default settings, in the Format dialog box, click OK, and then click OK again.

Burning it to a disk now, if this doenst work, I may go to /g/ for help, but if that fails then I guess Ill have to send it in. Its just a pain because apparently I have to buy packaging and box it a certain way, and they dont even tell me where to send the box.

or try finding this program > Paragon Partition Manager
it can do everything, but you may need to find a cracked version if you have 64bit i think.. or maybe its free again i cant remember.. gl

Ive tried the Disk management before, but it doesnt show up. Only seatools has ever gotten the disk to actual register before. It wont show up in my computer either.

Simple, yes, but have you tried a magnet?
It might not get everything since you can't open up the case or void warranty, but it's worth a shot.

Or you could try getting an Iron nail, copper wire, and a 9 volt battery (or better, a source of AC power like a wall socket)

Wrap the copper wire around the iron nail, connect the ends of the copper wire to the positive and negative leads of the battery, boom. Instant electro-magnetic field. Touch to hard drive.

I had an old 320GB Barracuda drive (PATA) that did the same thing. No matter what I tried I couldn't get it to register its size, nor could I even get into formatting it. Not only that my comp also started freezing (to the point where if I even got close to a solution the computer would lock up entirely when it tried reading it). I'm 90% sure that the drive will be bricked.

Try looking at this, it's a long shot but it might be worth a try
