Backup using the other.
So I should be getting my new HDD in in the next day or two seeing as how I could never get anything to work on it, and just replaced it. Now Im wondering if I should put both of my 500GB drives in RAID 0 and have just XP, or to leave them separate and just have XP and 7, one on each drive. The problem is, Im a little too cautious about the problem of one drive failing, and me loosing everything, as opposed to one drive failing and me just having to replace an OS. Im too poor to buy an external atm too.
I will not be having a computer without XP on it. So if you are going to suggest some shit about RAID and 7, then fuck off.
Any suggestions? So far I really dont have a big problem with read/write times on just one HDD, but everyone is always talking about how amazing RAID is.

It really depends on what you want to do. If you are really wanting to have a backup, then RAID isn't for you. But if you want faster read/write times, RAID would come in handy. But the down side would be that if one drive dies, the whole pc is gone to shit unless you reinstall the OS. Imho, just go with seperate OS's on each drive. It will make recovering from crashes less of a hassle.
Do separate.
My setup - Dual-boot Vista and XP, on diff drives.
Vista : 2TB HDD, massive amounts of shit.
XP : 32 gig tiny-but-ultra-rape-fast SSD
I have over 9000 games on vista, I torrent pretty much every game that comes out. I use it for gaming and everything, with DX 11 and all that shit, and I'm planning on upgrading it to 7 ultimate when I can afford it. Problem is, all that shit means like 15 minute boot time And I can't back it up since it takes a freaking month.
XP I use for browsing, music, GFX, etc. It's ridiculously fast, boots up in like 4 seconds. I back it up every week.
