Using my laptop wifi for XBL

hey guys... my laptop hard drive has failed and only thing that will boot up is linux (ubuntu 10.10) and i was wondering if anyone knows how to share internet via ethernet cable useing linux... ive tried a few things but no avail... just wondering and looking for help. Thanks.
p.s. i can do it on windows like nothing but... my harddrive is FIRETRUCKED up...
p.p.s. shareing internet is for xbox live of coarse... why else would it be in this section? thanks for all help possible...even if it doesnt work...

If you have a large enough USB drive, you can install Windows XP onto it.
Though you'd need access to a Windows PC in order to "hack" that.

yeah i knew about that... thanks for help... i already tried, with xp pro ( i have like 500 keys hehehe) and win7 but my harddrive cant pass the test ... its realocated sector count is almost the whole hardrive... only about 80gb survived... and luckly it was my entire back up OS Linux... i could buy a new harddrive but my mom wont let me buy it...she wants to buy it... but only when school starts... and then she wont let me even buy a 50ft ethernet cable for 13%
