i tried it on the pre-realse demo, it worked, but ingame, it changes my name to "unamedplayer"

You can, and everyone with half a brain can get the real name of the guy..

It's just that people are doing it to try and not get banned and it's just more work for the guys banning.. thus it's ban-able..
