Eons apart in terms of work ethic and demographic. Blizzard pretty much has free reign when it comes to there games, with Activision only handling the funding and distribution. Blizzard have been holding Blizzcon for years, long before Activision merged with them.

To say that any conventions copy each other would just be complete ignorance.

Conventions have been held every year for multiple things for centuries likely. In essence, a gaming convention is no different and simply copied the rest of them.

It's pretty a ignorant idea to think that someone can copy a "get together" event like that.
