Muskets were used for killing Injuns in the starting from the 16th centuries when the Europeans invaded North America.
And there are no Injuns in CA.
So I'd go with the L115A3.

The musket was made waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay before with it being used around the 14th and 15th, but increased in height around 16th. It was not into the 16th or even the 17th that light mobile rifles can be used. They mostly were very long and had a long fuse to fired the rifle. However, the gun was EXTREMELY dangerous even in today standard with one shot will most likely crippled or kill you.
