How do i write hacks?

More precisely, what are the steps that i must take in order to write a game hack for Vindictus?
I am already fluent in C and C++ and am also familiar with windows programming.
Also, are there any tools that I'll definitely need? If possible, I would actually like to write my own tools. Even if that's overly difficult, I would still like to at least learn the theory behind the makings of all those tools.
By the way, I am currently learning OpenGL and DirectX.
