    Easiest way would be to change your default input device to stereo mix:

    Then make sure your volume in the OS is set to max and lower the volume on your speakers / headphones (otherwise stereo mix won't really pick up anything decent).

    Not right now, but it's easy enough. Right click on the speaker icon in your taskbar and select recording devices. Then just switch the default device to stereo mix. If you don't have it see if you can get any drivers for your sound card. If you already have them, you can always just say so here and I'll write a quick tut on VAC.

    Oh right, snap. I really dunno how it looks like in XP but on the more positive side I believe you pretty much always have a stereo mix available. Follow this Audio Setup - Windows XP but instead of changing your sound playback change your sound recording device to stereo mix

    @Alen Why the Double Posting?

    Anyway.. I was with a similar problem long ago, also on XP.. I tried several things and couldn't get it to work, I admit I was a noob... But I gave up anyway... Just a question, why you don't install windows 7? It might fix your problem Who knows...

    >server's laggy

    Installing Windows 7 win't "fix the problem" since there is no problem to fix - choosing your input device is a feature. Now while it's true that it might be easier in Windows 7, that doesn't mean it can't be done in XP. Furthermore switching to Windows 7 might wholly remove stereo mix, making matters worse
