Open the taskmanager
Go to processes tab
Close all the java.exe and javaw.exe processes
Try again

Does this launcher require java 64bit? Friend has 32bit and it gives him a java exception when he tries to run it.

No, this launcher doesn't require 64bit java. When does he get an error? Like: When joining a server, etc.

I'm getting this error as well. On the Techinc's own forums, premium users are saying that they are having the same problem as well today though.
