Is it still illegal to make your own brand new crossfire and build it up on your own? (with a team of coders and designers)

No nothing like the private server just the same name like probably Crossfire² and make your own chars and your own items yet keep the graphics and modes but kinda more advanced and players can just send in like support ticket to make a weapon of their choice and the creators can look over it and see if its fair to the other players.

NO does not interact or have to do with anything about a private server, im talking your own coding from scratch and release it when its done EXACTLY like the other CF versions!!

No, definitely not. There are tons of games like crossfire, counter strike being the closest comparison. If everything is made by you, then it's 100% fine.

ofc copy&pasting source codes is considered leeching, no matter what your doing.

You can create your own game SIMILAR to that of CrossFire, as long you dont copy&paste anything.

As long as it doesn't have it's logo, and name, you should be good. Also it can't be completely the same design, but it can be some what the same.
