Negative space always kills me.

TBH it looks really nice even though it's pretty simplistic.
The text could've gone better, though.

My best advice is to just not use text. Until you know you can make it look good, pretend the text tool was never even put into PS.

Smudging turned better out than expected but I do need to work on the lighting some more

Just work on using your space correctly and filling it well. Just a tip, filling the empty space does not mean overcrowding or filling every part of the tag you can learn to have a good balance between the areas of your tag that you want to make stand out and the background that should be interesting but not too extreme.
