I'm going to write up a little guide on how to get Custom Skins for DayZ, before you ask a question in the thread - READ the whole thing first please. If you still can't find your answer, add me on Skype instead of posting here to avoid unnecessary spam. Thanks.
So you want a sweet looking custom skin, either to look badass or scare the living shit out of other players? Congratulations, you've come to the right place.
1.The first step is to download the .rar file I've added to this guide. It contains a couple of various skins ready for use. (A couple of examples: Batman, Hitler, Freddy Krueger etc. Credits to Doctor Dentist for making these!)
2.Once downloaded, feel free to browse the pictures and chose the one you like the most.
3.Navigate to C:\Users\'current user'\Documents\ArmA2. Copy the picture of your choise in here and rename it to "face.jpg" (without the " of course) This is very important, and it will fail to work if you call it anything other than face.jpg
4.Open up DayZ in any way you use to. On the main menu select Player Profile and Edit. Click in the Face drop-down menu. Option number 4 (under Default Face) should now be Custom Face. Select this one.
5.Some servers have turned off custom skins. If this is the case simply select another server..
6.Congratulations! You now look awesome!
BUT.. BUT... Custom Face isn't showing up!
Now this is where the fun part starts, some players might not have Custom Face showing up yet, or the colors of the skin might look very smeared out and ugly. Fear not, there's a fix for this!
Step one of fixing the problem is to convert the image file into a Targa file (.tga) The only way of doing this that i've personally used is with Photoshop, but anything might do the trick. (If the colors were all smeared out, decrease the size of the image by 50%)
Step two of the fix requires you to download TexView2. Once completely installed, fire this thing up. Open your face.tga file in it, and simply hit Save As. Now you need to save the new file as face.paa (make sure file type is set to Textures, should be by default)
You're nearly done, place your 'face.paa' inside 'C:\Users\'current user'\Documents\ArmA2'. At this point you can go in-game to select your new face.
Custom Face still not showing up? If you have more than one Player Profile, make sure you're placing it in the right folder. C:\Users\(Your Username)\Documents\ArmA 2 Other Profiles
