No there are headphones where they all hook up to 4 other speakers that you spread across your room so you can listen to your headphones and real life surround sound at the same time. What do you think?

Roccat Kave, hands down one of the best gaming headsets I have ever used. It's a pain in the ass for anything but gaming though, and you're better off using something like the Sennheiser PC360 instead. It's what I have and in all honesty, it's much better than any 5.1 / 7.1 headset.

And the Roccat Kave are only 5.1 surround sound

You do know that Roccat Kave headsets actually have more than two drivers, right? Most virtual 7.1 headsets have two, and you're then better off getting a decent ordinary headset. Not to mention that you would be even incapable of differentiating between 7 speakers if they were packed so closely together.

Virtual surround sound, how the fuck would you be able to differentiate between 7 separate channels within a headset, let alone pack seven separate drivers into one? Plus your headset will probably use usb to connect, a soundcard for 7.1 is only useful for true 7.1 uses like connecting optically to a receiver that supports 7.1 signals.

Probably the PC 350s, they should be around 150 if I'm not mistaken. Personally I dislike headsets if you don't have at least one decent pair of headphones to switch to once you're done gaming. In that case I recommend you search for normal headphones and a standalone mic, which should really give you more options.

    I might get them thanks.
So basicly, i dont need to configure them or anything? just plug them in and the 7.1 surround sound will work perfectly? no 7.1 sound card needed or anything?
