lag compensation maybe? if you are host with only 3 bars you are not a very good host. host should ALWAYS have 4 bars as you are only connecting to your pc, now lag comp is a whole other bear to tackle but it does not drop your ping bars.

Whenever im host im always 4 bars but when im not im always 3 then goes to 4 then back to 3 bars..
