From my research I have found that Israel didn't purposely damage any existing constructs unless it was a Palestinian safe house. Actually, from all of the videos I've watched and friends in those areas I've talked to, the Palestinian militants actually destroyed Gaza more than the Israelis by attempting to kill the Israeli soldiers through bombing attempts. The Israeli's military plan outlined that they would only hit key targets in areas of the city the have already been destroyed, unless weapon armaments are being moved through another densely populated location.

The Palestinians moved weapons through the densely populated areas frequently, knowing the Israelis would strike an offensive as that was their mission, to stop the armaments being shipped through. By doing this, the Palestinians gained meat shields (civilians) and could make it seem as though the Israelis were te ones being savages.

It's all psychological brotha, that tactic is actually in "The Art of War".
