How it works:
A VPN is basically a server who makes requests for you from/to the internet.
It works by cloning a network interface on your computer(windows) and connecting with it to a third party server.
Your computer makes requests to the server and in turn it sends back all packets you requested (Normal Internet).
VPN differs from a Proxy because it doesnt rely on a web connection and shitty encryption.
All traffic from your computer goes encrypted through the third party server and back. Making your computer anonymous.

First of all, 1gbps is not slow. its 125,00 MB per second.
Chances are you will not be able to saturate the connection with a home line internet. Average internet is 2-5 MB/s

Second, Commercial VPN servers are bad. They keep logs and are liable. Feds can easily order them to provide there logs.Which results in you getting arrested for whatever they requested the logs for.
And no they are not free. They might seem free but you will get maybe 100kb/s with spam ads.
They are slow and unreliable.
