Used to be quick, painless, and easy. Walk through a metal detector, done, hand wand if necessary. Put your carry on baggage in the xray machinne, pick it up on the other side and board your flight. You didn't have to take off your shoes, belt, watch, laptop, electronics, stick them in individual cartons and collect them on the other side. /tire

Some places don't require you to go the full extent of security. But yeah I see what you're saying. I hate the individual cartons and crap. So annoying and very tedious.
