    My motherboard don't have...HELP

    guys my motherboard dont have the connection to connect the cd-rom/dvd- drive i dont know why.... maybe my cable is outdated or is there another cable or conversion.... my one is long and has about 30 pin holes... help i need to install windows 7 64bit and plus the drivers for my motherboard. my motherboard is M5A78L-M LX Plus.. help.

    Are you talking about a PATA ribbon?



    Because the M5A78L doesnt have connections for a PATA ribbon, Im assuming you are using an old DVD drive that only has a hookup for PATA, instead of SATA. There should be a 4 pin molex connector for power-



    And the data cord would need to be a SATA, which you MB should have plenty of open ports for-



    Is it your DVD drive that has the PATA hookup? Because if it does, you will need a new DVD drive, as even if it is possible to convert PATA to SATA, it would be dumb to do so.

    I would stay away from PATA to SATA converters. I totally forgot I have like three of them sitting around here. You know why? None of them work. Just pick up a new SATA DVD drive, they are like $20 on Newegg.
