Well, if both are generally the same, why introduce the fiber then -_-.
Did I help you? You know what to do.
Because copper is already at it limit whereas fiber is near limitless. It will take very little to increase the bandwidth on fiber tenfold (1 gig per sec) whereas the highest copper will ever achieve is 100mbps and that's through a HFC network, and even then it's theoretical (you rarely see anything over 30mbps on a residential line). Not to mention NBN is government owned infrastructure that will provide a profit for the majority of it's lifespan with no proceedings going to a private organisation. That means massive injections into the fiscal budget.
