That rig will do you well. I personally have a very similar rig and on average I get 130+ FPS on BF3 and 100FPS on Crysis 3.

That CPU is a bottle-neck.
No point in getting Win8, grab Win7.
Won't need thermal paste, comes with the CPU.

You might aswell get Windows 8, noticeable improvement in performance, MUCH shorter startups and more.

If possible you should get a.. "free" windows copy if you know what I mean? Then possibly get the Asus - VE248Q monitor which is 24" instead of 21,5" which imo is a huge improvement too.

How is the CPU a bottleneck? 3570k is one of the best for gaming.. he doesn't need a better cpu if he isn't going to do some massive video editing..
