Soldier front file editing?

hey, one topic i downloaded something from, which is now patched as of this morning, told me it's easy to find out how to make my own..
well i WANT TO only because it's a no recoil, no spread edit of scr01.sff file. USF btw.
1)what program do i use to open it...
2)....what am i looking for in that program? is it done up nice and neat? i get jibberish in WordPad so it ain't that! it's in an order..but that's it.

this file decompresses the files. what do i do after it? it doesn't recompile right, as one tutorial said to delete everything in the Recoil file, recompile, and it should work. it doesn't.
