Be patient, buying at lower numbers gives you a better chance of winning. Other than that, it takes luck and good timing when you buy your caps.

Or you can be like @Maxedout & do this:

1) Wait for gun to get somewhat low
2) Prepare 10k AP
3) Gun drops very low
4) Buy 10 Caps
5) Repeat Step 5 until you lost, won, or ran out of AP
6) ???
7) Profit
