Brian's not actually dead. Stewie referenced earlier in the episode travelling forward in time to Christmas. Therefore in this year's Christmas episode, future Stewie will intercept past Stewie and go back to save Brian. Also Brian's name is in future episode titles.

Proof: I didn't give a shit about family guy until my facebook feed got flooded by "RIP Brian" statuses and pages, now I just hope the entire show dies.

however, just to further prove your point, if meg DID Die, that'd mean that her voice actor would either be dead or quit. Now, Seth Mcfalren, the guy who does Stewie, Peter, and brian, AND the creator of the show, kills one character, and especially if he's as popular as Brian, be 100% sure that he'll be back.
