Lol, Its kinda hard to understand if you get 2(a-3)+5(a+31) And the answer from the teacher, without any explanation.. If you'd told me it in this way, i would have come a far way. thanks i guess..
I was talking about your countries education system. I wasn't kidding btw.. I literally learned this in 7th grade when i was 12-13.

Well, i do Higher General Secondary Education (Years run from 1st to 5th year), Just never had anything with math. I had this (subject) in the 3th class (2years) back, never really understood it. But yeah The Netherlands isn't bad on education Nr 9-10-11 of the world. But alright. Gonna leave it at this i guess.

Well not everyone finds math easy. I'm now in 5th year of middleschool (just like him, I think?) and we learn more then it, but some of my school, who're not following math can't even do: 4x+9=15 and they're 16-18. I have great grades but you have to understand not everyone is good at it. They're for example good at German, which I'm not. That's why there are different choices (Maths, Languages etc.)

We did not have internet when I was in 7th grade, and I learned this just fine on my own like everyone else. Maybe this is your problem, with every tiny problem most of you jump on the internet asking people to bring you answers on a platter. You can not even use google on your own, I wonder how you will all do in life.

    Distributive Properties

    2(a-3) + 5(a+31).

    1. Multiply the "2" with "a", then multiply the "2" with "-3"
    You will get (2a-6).
    2. Multiple the "5" with "a", then multiply the "5" with "+31"
    You will get (5a+155).
    3. Do the following (2a-6)+(5a+155) or 2a-6+5a+155
    4. Group the variables together. 2a+5a-6+155

    Answer will be 7a + 149
    Simple distributive properties + polynomials.

Need to write this simpler removing the brackets.

    2(a-3)+5(a+31)

Need to write it down more easily , teacher isn't a big help.. Since i saw some ppl posting they like math i figured i'd ask

Don't really need the awnser, just a way to solve these questions
It's simple really. You have 2(a-3)+5(a+31). According to the order of operations, you must solve what is in the parenthese, then do the multiplication. Because you have a variable in the parenthese that is unknown, you have to skip to the multiplication. Now, the number being multiplied by the parenthese will have the same action against both the variable and the number inside the parenthese. Because of this, you have to distribute the number by what is inside the parenthese.

    2a-6+5a+155. Now, do what you can. 7a. -6+155=149. 7a+149=?

    Easy.

    2(a - 3) + 5(a + 31)
    2a - 6 + 5a + 155
    7a + 149

    Pretty easy. Set 7a + 149 = 0 to solve for a if needed.
