Monthly Manga Recommendation (8/15/14)
I decided to start this, since Color stopped doing his and I have been broadening my horizons when it comes to manga lately. Will basically be one manga every month, although I have the right to change these conditions as I see fit. Fuck it, let's go.
My recommendation to end the summertime would have to be All You Need is Kill. This short manga follows the story of a peon soldier named Keiji, who is nervous the night before his deployment to the battlefield. In this world, they fight monsters known as "Mimics" that are trying to take over planet Earth. Once he and his team were deployed, they were all killed by the mimics... Or were they?
I really liked the concept of this manga, and I will try not to spoil anything for you since the manga is only 17 Chapters long. The characters are captivating, and the story is solid. The main character does have a moment when he acts like Sasuke from Naruto, or Aomine from Kuroko no Basket, Where he says something like, "The only one that can stop them is me" but he has a turn around so it's aight.
This manga had me rooting for the main character from start to finish, and I am glad that a friend of mine recommended it. You don't like reading mangas? Well, lucky for you, they made a live-action movie out of this. Edge of Tomorrow, starring Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt, has the same story, minus some small things from the manga. This movie was good, despite my criticisms of it prior to watching it. It follows the story pretty well, and I think they did a good job. I really, REALLY recommend watching the movie after you read the manga.
It's basically a 3-hour read, depending on how fast you read it. Enjoy!

It's ok......
I mean the LN and the manga are both good, but the movie was pretty good too. It's like a 1-hour read, so......yeah......
Though I dunno about recommending what is basically a "one-shot" manga.
