Depends on what you used the script as...

KeyBindings, obviously you can tell you press a keybind.

PersistScript, it runs automatically all the time even when you don't need it.

PostRequire, it runs in place of the original file.

The adding of perk deck points is used as a keybind, so yes, you need to press a button. Regarding which button, you should know, because you modified the PD2Hook.yml yourself. If you don't know what are the "key codes" for a particular button, the link is also in the thread I posted.
