    980 VS 970

Really, really, really can't decide. It wouldn't be an issue had this whole "ram-gate" issue not popped up. I mean, even contemplated going with an r9 290x. But, I don't know. On paper I can't seem to justify a 10-15% performance gain from the 970 to the 980. But then again, I'd REALLY like a reference nvidia 970 or 980. I don't know if the 970 reference cooler exists, so.. I don't fucking know. Price really doesn't matter, but I don't know if I can justify that $200 price jump.
    Computer Specifications:
    Case: NZXT H500i
    PSU: EVGA SuperNova 750W
    Mobo: Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Ultra
    CPU: Intel Core i7-9700K
    CPU Cooling: Kraken x62
    RAM: Gigabyte Aorus 16GB(8x2)3200Mhz
    GPU: Asus 1080 Strix

The 970 "Ram-gate" issue will very rarely present itself in real world applications. 970s are perfectly fine to use but if you want to be king of the hill at the moment then a 980 will be the way to go.

Personally I'm waiting to upgrade my GTX 770 to a 980Ti if they release one. If not I'll upgrade when needed.

Hey I bought an AMD 290X from amazon but they send me a broken one couldn't test any game. I went out and bought MSI 970 OC and i have to say this card is a beast every game above 60 fps on 1080

If you're playing on resolutions above 2560 X 1440P then yes then the GTX 970 might not be the best choice. If you plan to play games that require huge amounts of Vram from the graphics card like Skyrim with a bunch of mods then hell yea It might be better to get a GTX 980. But honestly this thread can be answered by the Are you playing higher than 1080p question.

Only uninformed and retarted plebs would make a big deal out of the 3.5GB "usable" ram on the GTX 970. Unless you bought the GTX 970 at release. Then I'd be inclined to say fuck Nvidia for lying because the GTX 970 was going to be the budget 4K gaming card.

Playing at 2560x1080 at the moment. Was considering selling this 29 LG UHD one for the 34 one that sits at 3440 x 1440. However.. I'm still torn between that and a gsync 29 inch. Don't know. Would probably go for the 3440x1440. But that is down the road.

They actually are releasing a Ti version of the 980.

Just buy the 970, the 980 is barely better.

970 is probably better for the price, but 980 is definetly a great card as well.

I'd say 970. 980 is not worth the money.

If price didn't matter I don't understand why you'd have to justify that amount. Either way, if you want strictly opinion, go for the 970. If you want a factual answer, treat it as anything else you'd buy... Figure out what you'd need it for, then purchase accordingly.

Really just wanted to see if anyone had a reason that actually justifies the price the 980s price.

If you have the money go for the 980 and then ask someone who does amazon refunds to replace replace it then refund it and you'll have 2 980s for like $100

Pretty sure if I do anymore I'll be fucked. I've done over 2 grand to the same address within the past year now. drops are hard to find where I live too. I mean, it's not only that but this neighboorhood has a bunchhhhh of druggies too, so idk if I would even begin to trust a drop that I could find.

Also every single "experienced" refunder has done the "Item never came", which is entirely saturated.

Well do you want the best or die like the rest because of some preformance issues?
