    Nepal earthquake

More than 1,000 people have been killed in Nepal's deadliest earthquake for more than 80 years, police say.
The 7.8 magnitude quake struck an area of central Nepal between the capital, Kathmandu, and the city of Pokhara.
There were also victims in India, Bangladesh, Tibet and on Mount Everest, where avalanches were triggered.
The government has declared a state of emergency in the affected areas, and help has been offered by countries around the world.
Little information has emerged from the epicentre, where extensive damage has been reported, and there are fears the death toll could rise yet further.
The Nepalese information minister has told the BBC that 1,500 people had been killed in the disaster, but that the true casualty figure would probably be much higher.
Thousands of people are spending the night outside their houses, following a series of aftershocks.

It's a pretty terrible tragedy, just because it's Nepal. I never knew how poor Nepal was until I watched a video a couple weeks ago. They're legitimately poor, a lot of other countries will have to help them get their recovery and safety efforts up to standard, they simply don't have any/enough money to do it. :/

    It's kinda like Haiti.

Yeah, I thought Bangladesh was fucked up until I saw Nepal. This earthquake affects me more than others, because these people are probably in less of a place to recover than most other countries in the world.

I realize now how good I have it here in Belgium. We never have any terrorist events, no earthquakes, no storms or whatever. Just wow. Sad to see this.

I'm a nepali living in the U.S as you guys are right we do look poor and the only reason is because of our political situation after the death of our king few years back which set us back in time. Even though we count as the top 10 counties with water resources we still have shortages in the cities and along the skirts as well. Internet has just bumped up a bit as I remember visiting nepal took me hours just to open my email account. As in still now many people don't know where nepal is.

Never thought Nepal would get such a devastating earthquake

Nature is good and bad. All we can do is continue to live life and move on yet still mourn for the families and loved ones.
