If you did have effects, they are outdone by the black and white gradient.
Try to mix some colours up to make the focal look outstanding.

Well first of all the smudging isn't great, no flow in that, text is nice, quality nice, lighting very nice, blending nice, 9.5/10 smudging could just be...a bit more like...umm...less motion blurred, yes you probably didn't directly go do motion blur but the affect on the way you've smudge it gives off that kinda effect, which doesn't go...
