Hell_Demon, You'd be better off performing the necessary detours on the DirectX apis. As the display drivers are generally graphics-card specific or have been optimized for a specific graphics card. Screenshots are generally taken by switching the render target to a user-created surface, then the pixel data is read and send in whichever format one decides to use. If you can locate whichever APIs are being used to do this, you will find the ones you will need to detour.

I want to use it to draw directly onto the video memory so it won't show on screenshots(like DirectDraw hardware overlays, but those are deprecated)

I made an ESP with DirectDraw but got stuck on drawing text as GDI couldn't be used with YUV overlays and nvidia doesnt support RGB overlays

I have experience with kernel-mode drivers. Usermode should be much easier though. You'd need to communicate with the VGA controller(which is a lot of work IMHO). Hmm, why do you need to interface with the VGA controller directly? It's probably not the best solution. Implementing display drivers is very complex and problematic. You may want to consider going up and hooking the DirectX drivers, which is more realistic.

Hey jetamay, do you have experience with usermode display drivers? I've been trying to get into it as I think it would be a nice way of doing ESP but can't find good reference material and i'm not so fortunate with google results on the subject(most are from other people asking for help and threads that never get answers)

Current OS is windows XP but switching over to 7 soon in case that matters.

I'm only at GR11 math. But a basic one would be simple. Signature scanning & simple pattern scanning. The trick though is writing one that performs well.
