You could store an infinite amount of items and then just swap the filler items for items you wanna keep.

Grimoire 3.8+ has always been ignoring which skills I command it to use. Someone made a version fixing this, but then the server issues appeared and I switched to one that now patched this issue....

As Poonce said it is indeed related to your/his connection, but the idea I posted would probably be a solution.

The FPS limiter is not a timer, which increases the speed of the game, but rather the visual output of FPS. If you don't have a 200 Hz monitor, 200 FPS will give you no advantage.

May be connecting related or he is just using speed and it's quicc af and you don't notice in the small delay he could be joining earlier.
