Same for me and others, it seems to be just like in MW3 now. Time to switch over to my second account without a VAC ban

Try restarting your computer.

I am pretty sure they just changed something server side that prevents you from connecting if banned (similar to MW3). Xeno tested on his unbanned alt and connected just fine, so it's more than likely VAC related.

Yea I think they updated vac.

So far I have managed to patch the game to allow me to get into the game menus and etc. Some server stuff isn't activated properly however so I can't search for a match nor start a private one. Xeno said he managed to get private matches working but has yet to test with public matches. Progress w00t!

It's Tuesday, they always go under maintenance on Tuesday's.

Considering everyone with a VAC ban has experienced this, and that it is still throwing the message, I feel that it is safe to say it has nothing to do with maintenance and is completely VAC based.

Patch 0x628A1B with 2 NOP's and you will be able to play in private matches, but you can't join or be joined by friends.

Can you please go a bit more in depth? Sorry for the noob question, I googled it and I'm not sure what you're talking about. I'm trying to play with Liberation, I went back to an older iw4mp version, and I still get the Steam Connect error and was wondering how to bypass it. Thank you

They have a similar case in MW3, except that's been around for years now. I have no idea why this got implemented in MW2 this late lol.
