In core-gameplay tekken and games like tekken(VF,SC) win.
There is one and only one reason for this.
"Special attacks."
When i play a fighting game, i want to fight. I want to have my character beat the shit out of my enemy.
--------------------------------------
Streetfighter introduced something that a lot of other games follow. Circle the joystick and push said button for you version of a hadouken.
-------------------------------------------------
While this is ok, at the end of the day I was wanting to play a fighting game, not some half-fighting half DBZ game.
Point being that tekken will always prevail as a better fighter because it doesn't require you to shoot hadoukens across the map, and in characters in tekken have balanced damage output.
This is important since in SF & co. have this problem where some bigger characters hit for more(which in physics makes sense) but have the same speed for basic hits.
What also is a problem for SF is the recoil system. You hit someone and they get knocked back and you can't follow up. You can do said combo, but in all fairness its pretty stupid to have your character hit a person and them get knocked back 5 feet every time.
Tekken & co. solve this by having your enemy take dmg but not move too far back.
Thats it, i'm done. Tekken>SF.
