I thought it was a little suspicious that there was an update where the changelog only says "-Just updated for now (I'll add stuff sooner or later)
PS:
I'd appreciate any donations"
and includes a payment link. It seems like nothing was updated and the person who posted that only wants money. So I checked out Infinest's profile and saw this comment at the top: https://i.imgur.com/RyNVsKQ.png
At first, I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt and thought, "Maybe he downloaded the wrong thing when he clicked the ******* link." So I used virustotal to scan version/update #21 with 57 different programs. Only 1 out of 57 gave any warning signs, and that was only a "reputation" warning, so I decided to ignore that. I unzipped the .zip, ran the .exe inside, and it said my version is out of date, so it updated it. I was about to run the .exe again, but I remembered, "Wait, someone said it's a trojan - I should scan it a second time, now that it's updated to a newer, different version."
So I scanned the latest version, and here are the results: https://i.imgur.com/9sHGxNQ.png If you want, you can use virustotal or any service of your choice to scan it too. As you can see, 7 different programs can detect a trojan in it, and 2 of them specifically describe it as one called Artemis. After looking into it, it sounds like a pretty serious one.
I also posted about this in his steam group, and I fully expect to be banned from it and to have my comments deleted for drawing attention to this. I'm not saying Infinest necessarily did it, because there's a mod in his group, and steam groups can optionally allow mods to create their own announcements and edit the group description. Then again, after checking out the donation link, it leads to a .de (Deutsch) email address, https://i.imgur.com/cl8gtx1.png so the person who made the latest update with the donation link included is German, and as you can see on his profile, Infinest is German... https://i.imgur.com/pgRuxxc.png Uh-oh.
I hope this helps raise awareness about the malware that's currently in Infinest's client.
Stay safe.
